The Ridges, formerly the Athens Lunatic Asylum and now part of Ohio University, acres upon acres for hiking and exploring.  Trail options include a Cemetery Walk, developed by the local chapter of the National Alliance for Mental Illness, winding through several cemeteries located on the grounds of the former asylum.  Make your way to the top of the trail to the famous Radar Hill, where the views of Athens County and beyond make the hike all worth it! 

Enter the Ridges Trail from several locations:  Across from the Dairy Barn Regional Arts Center on Dairy Lane; Near the ballfield on North Ridge Drive.

The Ridges also includes a Ropes Obstacle Course.  Contact OU's Outdoor Pursuits Office at 740-597-1485 for more information on the use of the Ropes Course.
