Best Hometown 2009

Get Your Spook On!

With everything orange and black and sweet and spicy it's hard not to love autumn and its most loved and feared holiday: Halloween. Whether you're a trick-or-treater, costume creator or a fan of everything spooky, you just can't help but feel the spirits during this festive fall holiday!

Join the festivities of a 34-year old tradition!

Don't miss the Block Party of the Year! On October 31, 2009, you will have a chance to join thousands of others to celebrate Halloween in one of the spookiest places on Earth!

Thanks to the Clean and Safe Halloween Committee music, costume competitions and other events are scheduled throughout the night!

UPTOWN BEER GARDEN and COSTUME CONTEST!

The Clean and Safe Halloween Committee has spearheaded efforts to bring a beer garden to uptown Athens during the block party. They are in need of volunteers for the beer garden and also with programming throughout the day. If you'd like to volunteer, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Be sure to check a job AND at least one shift.

Thanks to those who have already volunteered!

There will be a third stage at this year's block party (located in the parking lot between Lucky's and Attractions) that will host the Monster Drink Costume Contest. The contest will take place 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm. Great prizes will be awarded for the best costume in a variety of categories. Winners will be announced at midnight. For more information, email Michael McSteen.
