As any local will tell you, there are plenty of deer in Athens County. In fact, Field and Stream Magazine recently listed Athens County's Wayne National Forest as America's Best Public Deer Hunt. According to the magazine, Ohio is now a top producer of both Boone and Crockett and Pope and Young bucks. And the best place to find them in Ohio is Wayne National Forest in Athens County. Another great public hunting site in Athens County is Strouds Run State Park.
In addition to deer, Athens County has hunting seasons for wild turkey, squirrel, rabbit, various birds, and more. Click here to view all youth, hunting, and trapping seasons.
