It's no wonder that Athens has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Art Communities in America -- the arts are part of everyday life here. Major venues, including OU's Memorial Auditorium, Stuart's Opera House, The Dairy Barn Arts Center, ARTS/West, and the Kennedy Museum bring nationally and internationally recognized art to Southeast Ohio, while our pubs, restaurants and shops display and promote the unique local art of Athens County.

Hello Bobcats! Welcome to your new home for the next four years! Athens is a town filled with rich culture and heritage, a thriving music scene, an inspiring and renowned arts community, eclectic shopping and dining… all in the beautiful, rolling hills of Appalachia. You might say we are best known for Halloween or for the numerous street fests, but we beg to differ. Athens is nationally recognized as a ‘garden of eatin’ with our abundance of nearby farms, local food markets, food-producing venues and outstanding festivals.

Welcome to Athens County! To introduce you to all we have to offer, we have created two official Athens County GeoTrails, which features both a regular version and one that is fully handicap-accessible. These trails will be available starting June 18, 2011. Details on the trails and completion requirements will be forthcoming.
