The Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure (GOBA) is coming to Athens this June 23 - 25, 2010!

GOBA is an annual one-week bicycle loop tour through Ohio, held each June. GOBA features a different part of Ohio each year, traveling through peaceful countryside and stopping at exciting tourist destinations. The week-long adventure offers fun, Ohio hospitality, and a challenging and rewarding vacation. And this year, GOBA is featuring our rolling Appalachian countryside in Athens.

The Athens Community Center is host to the 3,000+ cyclists and tourists coming to our town! GOBA is primarily a camping tour; overnight tent camping is included with the registration fee. Each rider brings a large bag containing their tent, sleeping bag, clothing, and other gear. However, food is not covered in their registration fee. We will have 3,000 hungry cyclists coming to our town, so it's very important for our local businesses to be prepared and stocked with food!

There will be local entertainment provided throughout GOBA's stay in Athens. With two overnights, there will be many activities planned and lots to do!

There are a variety of ways to get involved with GOBA. We have seven planning committees for the event: Campground Logistics, Emergency Planning, Transportation, Housing, Food, Entertainment and Information. If you feel you can donate your time and knowledge to any of these committees, please contact Jenna Dill at the ACCVB by calling 740-592-1819 or emailing her at jdill@athensohio.com.
