mix of words, images and abstract elements.
This installation is partly inspired by the Majestic Galleries' former life as a movie theater. It plays with some of the conventions of movie ads and posters, and considers relationships between the popular spectacle of the movies, the (sometimes obscure) fine-art world, and the "ordinary" world.
Stuarts Gallery 1879: Opening Night: water visions: close writings curated by Andrew Russ. In 1970, bpNichol published the concrete poetry masterwork still water and won the Governor General's Award. In 1990, stuart pid responded by rewriting the entire book as distilled water, the key work in launching the IZEN imprint. In 2000, paloin biloid rewrote the book as water detail, beginning his own exploration of allusion in concrete poetry in the water works series. In 2005, Geof Huth rewrote the book as water vapour, adding new colours in the process. The 44 years of concrete creativity in these books are being celebrated with an exhibit featuring all four books in Gallery 1879. The exhibit will also include Dan Waber's essay on all four books, originally published in _Open Letter_, and an encore presentation of prints from The Last Vispo Anthology: Visual Poetry 1998-2008.
Paper Circle: Opening Night: Synaptic Experiments by Karla Hackenmiller. Karla’s recent research has been focused on the limitless and ever–evolving results of the thought process as it relates to the physical brain
and its abstract outcomes. Her detailed artworks have primarily taken the form of linear etchings, drawings, collages, collagraphs and monoprints that have been exhibited internationally as well as across the United States. The works in this exhibition are the result of a collaborative interchange between a digitally-driven plotter and the artist’s hand
Hocking College Art Gallery: Opening Night: Art Faculty Exhibition.
The Plaid Butterfly: Owner Johanna has been making soap like a mad woman. Stop in to smell Pumpkin Spice, Red Apple, and the newest creation Mister ( a manly blend of aromas for men).
