Head to Nelsonville's Historic Public Square for great art, delicious foods and more! Final Fridays features new exhibits from Nelsonville's Historic Arts District galleries, art, vendors, music, and more!

You'll see street musicians and performers, artists demonstrating their trade, a FREE Summer Concert Series provided by Stuart's Opera House, top quality art exhibits and so much more. A perfect way to end each month.

Bringing Mardi Gras to the Nelsonville Public Square

Big Easy Cuisine, Community Parade and Live Music!


Special Happenings:

·         Mardi Gras Mask Making from 5:30 to 7 at the Library

·         Mardi Gras Parade featuring Honey for the Heart Puppets!  Meet at 37 Public Square at 7 pm to join the parade!

·         Free Live Music- The Wild Honey Bees at Starts Opera House

·         Big Easy Cuisine hosted by the Hocking College Epicurean Club, featuring Seafood & Sausage Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, and Jambalaya, at 36 Public Square.

·         The Bourbon Street Bash at the Rhapsody featuring Cajun Fare and Live Jazz

·         Start It Up Nelsonville giving tours for potential businesses on the Square


Starbrick Cooperative Gallery:  OpeningNight:  High Fiber: A Group Fiber Show (It’s Good for You!)   Paper – Fabric – Yarn – Quilt, this exhibit will represent a variety of fiber mediums by the co-op members of Starbrick Gallery. 


Majestic Galleries:   Opening Night: The Majestic will be hosting two thesis shows: Todd Kunkler, The World is Flat and Megan Marzec, Wastelands, Revolutions, Failures.  Work by Stephen Deffet in the Front Gallery.


Stuart’s Opera House: will be hosting the Wild Honeybees band in the lobby from 7:00 - 9:30-ish.


Stuart’s Gallery 1879: Continuing: The Art of Bryn Perrott.  Bryn Perrott is an artist from Morgantown, West Virginia who works with woodcuts and makes beautiful art. She has produced art for the Jackie O's Brewery cans, albums, and much more. Now through March 23rd. Jackie O's beers and more available at the Stuart's bar.


Paper Circle:  Continuing: Carrie Lingscheit: Recent Prints and Drawings. Paper Circle is pleased to present a selection of recent works by Chicago-based artist Carrie Lingscheit, a 2010 alumna of Ohio University.  Lingscheit's work explores subtleties of human behavior and interaction, gesture, touch, and posturing; the resulting drawings and intaglio prints present ambiguous and sometimes whimsical narratives characterized by omission, distortion, and hyperbole.


Hocking Art Gallery:  Continuing: The Glass and Ceramics Invitational.Glass and ceramic artists featured in the exhibition include Tom Bartel, Danny Crump, Brian Dieterle, Kelsey Duncan, Danielle Hall,

Bethany Haeseler, Chris Harman, Seana Higgins, Kyle Johns, Ellen Kleckner, Michael Lorsung, Misha D. Nalepa, Bonilyn Parker, Brad Schwieger, Trey Snowden III, Maia Stern, Laura Tansey, Tina Vu, Xiyue Wang, Caitlin Wolle, Nao Yamamoto and Katherine E. Zeilman.


The Plaid Butterfly: made a "Limited-Edition" batch of Mardi Gras inspired soaps!


Nelsonville Emporium:  will be celebrating Mardi Gras with a sale on local music CD's and colorful artwork.


Nelsonville Library:  Open until 8 pm!Free & Open to the Public --- Kids and their families are welcome to drop by anytime between 5:30 and 7 pm to make a Mardi Gras mask! Also this evening, the library will be having their regular Final Friday Book Sale. All items just 30¢ or fill a reusable bag for $3. 




Inaugural Nelsonville Small Business Open House Event

 Four Nelsonville small business rental locations will be showcased for public viewing. Sponsored by Business Remixed and Rocky Brands as part of the “Start It Up Nelsonville” contest, four prime spaces will open their doors for both residents and business owners throughout the evening. 


- Event will feature small business locations at 78 W. Washington, 49 W. Columbus, 37, Public Square, and downstairs of 35 Public Square (the former People’s Bank Building)

- Each location will be open from 5:30 - 7:30

- A facilitator will be on hand to discuss the potential for each space and to answer any questions.

- Light hors d’oeuvres will be available.

- Rental spaces made available by L’Heureux Properties and the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio


Nelsonville’s version of Mardi Gras, known as the Bourbon Street Bash, has been happening for over 30 years, and will take place February 26, 27, and 28, at the Rhapsody Restaurant, 18 Public Square.  Guests will choose from a four course menu of authentic Cajun and Creole food for $19.95 and will enjoy live

Dixie Land Jazz and all of the atmosphere of Mardi Gras.  We will also be serving specialty drinks, as well

as a raw bar with fresh oysters and whole crayfish, which are priced separately.

Friday the 27th Hocking Colleges’ Student Epicurean Club will host an outdoor Mardi Gras celebration.   Bowls of Seafood & Sausage Gumbo, Red beans and Rice, and Jambalaya will be available at 32 Public Square, next to Stuart’s Opera House
