The Ohio University Symphony Orchestra is teaming up with the New Music Ensemble to provide audience members with an exciting afternoon of 20th and 21st century music at the First United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 6th at 4:00pm. Featuring the winners of the Student Soloist Competition, David Crider and Laura Smith, the orchestra will be performing Creston’s Concertino for Marimba and Orchestra and Martinu’s Concerto for Oboe and Small Orchestra. The New Music Ensemble will present University Distinguished Professor of Composition Dr. Mark Phillips' Appalasia for erhu and computer music, Christopher Adler's Ecstatic Volutions in a Neon Haze, and the world premiere of graduate composition student Sam Ferris' Sextet.
