The Union Bar & Grill is a cornerstone of the Athens rock music scene. This two story establishment features a bar and seating area on its ground level, with a stage and second bar upstairs. During Prohibition, The Union was a speakeasy. Today it regularly features musical acts playing retro-influenced indie rock, punk, and garage rock revival. Over the years, many big-time indie bands have played on The Union’s well-worn stage, including The Ataris, Man Man, The Black Keys, and The White Stripes. While indie and rock are favorites, The Union has been known to feature everything from hip-hop to funk.

The downstairs bar is open 11:00 am – 2:00 am daily. The grill is open for lunch weekdays 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
