Our Mission

The mission of the Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau is to enhance the economic and cultural development of Athens County through marketing and promotion of the area as a destination for travelers from outside of Athens County.

ACCVB Staff

Paige Alost
Executive Director

Paige is originally from Baton Rouge, LA, and moved to Athens in 1996 when her husband chose Ohio University for his graduate studies. She joined the ACCVB in July, 2006, and prior to this served as the Associate Director for Campus Visit Programs at Ohio University. Paige is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in Journalism.

For Paige, it's hard to imagine living anywhere else but Athens. Some of her favorite local places include The Ridges, Stuart's Opera House and every back road in Athens County. What most people know about Paige is that she is an ardent supporter of all-things-Athens, and is honored to work with such talented people not only at the ACCVB, but with local governments and other community businesses and organizations.

What you probably don't know about Paige is that her favorite Athens event is the Demolition Derby held during the Athens County Fair. Though she may be one of the few spectators wearing linen pants and carrying a monogrammed handbag, Paige feels right at home with all the flames and fumes of the derby. (It reminds her of her cooking…)

Gina Geremia

Marketing Director

Originally from the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, Gina moved to Athens in 1990 for graduate school. Gina accepted the position of Marketing Coordinator for the ACCVB in September, 2006. She brings with her a solid marketing background in both the nonprofit and small business arenas and a passion for everything Athens County has to offer both residents and visitors. After 16 years of serving the Athens community in social service, economic development and agricultural roles, the question "what hasn't she done?" comes to mind. Gina has done everything from managing social service programs to designing marketing materials for small businesses to running a specialty foods company.

When asked why she lives here rather than in Vermont, Gina quickly responds, "If you have to ask, you haven't really experienced Athens. Step outside the city limits in any direction and you will quickly find yourself gazing at pristine views from atop the area's ridges or surrounded by jungle-like deciduous forests. The natural beauty of Athens County is enhanced by the fact that it is a living landscape. Once you experience all of this you'll know why Athens is my home."

Laura O'Neil
Marketing Assistant

Laura hails from Columbus, Ohio and is a proud product of Columbus Public Schools. She first came to Athens in 2001 to attend Ohio University and was surprised to find that she didn't want to leave upon graduating in 2005. After serving for two years as an AmeriCorps*VISTA at Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville, Laura joined the ACCVB in October 2007.

What Laura loves most about living in Athens is the small-town feel, running into friends and former professors at the library, the farmers' market and her favorite uptown haunts. She also finds it very easy to live with virtually no rush-hour traffic. She enjoys checking out new exhibits at the Kennedy Museum of Art, attending fabulous shows at Stuart's Opera House, and hiking in Sells Park.
