PICNIC SPOTS

 Burr Oak State Park features over twenty-five miles of scenic hiking trails, picnic tables, grills, 500 feet of sandy beach, and a shelter house for the public use.

Lake Hope State Park, located in McArthur, is a nature lover's dream. Picnic areas with tables and grills are scattered around the park in secluded areas. Two picnic shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis or by reservation.

Lake Snowden has a grass and sand beach swimming area. Bring a blanket and enjoy the views.

Sells Park is tucked away just a few blocks off of East State Street in Athens. When you arrive, a small pond greets you after an easy up hill walk.  Benches tucked away in the trees give you the perfect spot to pause for some picnicking and reflection.

Shade Winery is situated in Southeast Ohio's Appalachian foothills. Bring your picnic any Friday or Saturday between 1 and 8 PM.

Strouds Run State Park is located in Athens County. Lakeside picnic areas offer picnic tables and cooking grates, along with 3 shelters. Hiking, bridle trails, swimming, or fishing – it’s all here.

Farmers Markets offer a variety of breads, cheeses, meats, fruits, greens, vegetables, baked goods, and specialty foods that make for a delicious picnic. The Chesterhill Produce Auction is both an experience and a source of local, fresh foods. The drive and destination are beautiful. Experience Amish farmers bringing their goods to the auction in horse-drawn buggies.

Undercover Market is located within the Village Bakery. Find Village Bakery breads, cheeses, Crumbs Bakery crackers, Shagbark Seed & Mill Company chips, house made yogurt from Snowville milk, fruit, vegetables, and more! Stop by the Village Bakery side for additional takeout food choices.

Busy Day Market - check the shelves for local foods. Their deli and refrigerator case also have options.
